When it comes to clarity, almost all diamonds have tiny birthmarks called inclusions that can affect the path of light that travels through a diamond. The fewer inclusions, the easier light will travel through making it more brilliant. Most inclusions are not visible to the naked eye, and are only apparent under 10x magnification (this is how they are graded by a gemologist.)
